Fatal Traffic Accident at 10900 Southwest Freeway Service Road


January 10, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10900 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. 59) service road about 2:20 p.m. on Sunday (Jan. 9).

The victim, Christopher Graham Hughes, 52, of Missouri City, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Love and Officer B. Tran reported:

Mr. Hughes was driving a red Ford Mustang north on the Southwest Freeway service road.  Another vehicle, a black Ford Explorer, was traveling east on the Sam Houston Parkway service road.  An initial investigation revealed Hughes ran the red light at the intersection, causing the Explorer to strike his vehicle.  A female passenger, 51, in the Mustang, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
