HPD, Agencies, Local Groups Join to Keep East End Safe

January 13, 2011 - Today (Thursday, Jan. 13), members of the Houston Police Department's Eastside and South Central Patrol Divisions, elected officials, the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce, the Greater East End Management District, and other law enforcement agencies announced a collaborative effort to address safety concerns in the East End area.

In a proactive effort to alleviate concerns, HPD, GEEMD and HEECC will host a series of safety training symposiums dedicated to provide safety tips to help residents and business owners protect themselves.

"Houston's East End is a vibrant community, full of hard-working, law-abiding and caring individuals," said Captain Robert Manzo of HPD's Eastside Patrol Division.  "It is as safe as any other area in the city.  We are commited to doing everything possible to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the East End," Capt. Manzo added.

The series of training symposiums will be conducted by members of the HPD Robbery Division.
