Skeletal Remains in 2008 Homicide Identified


January 20, 2011 - The skeletal remains of a female found at 4605 East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) service road on July 27, 2008 have been identified.

The victim, Kimberly Lynette Booker, 43, was found on the floor of an abandoned house next to the East Freeway service road near Waco Street.  She suffered head wounds.

Photos and a composite sketch of Ms. Booker are attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants C. Howard and E. Cisneros reported:

On July 27, 2008, the remains of an unknown, possibly black, female were found in an abandoned residence at the above location.  At the time of the initial investigation, the victim's identity was unknown.  A follow up investigation and composite sketch failed to produce leads to her identity, and the case remained open.

In January 2011, the identity of the victim was verified through the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and she was positively identified as Kimberly Lynette Booker.  Investigators are asking for the public's assistance in locating family members, as well as any information pertaining to this case.
