Fatal Shooting at 3400 Rosedale


July 5, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 3400 Rosedale about 1:30 a.m. on Monday (July 3).

The deceased victim, Rashad L. Minix, 20, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.  A second victim, Ferunell Smith, 19, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to the same hosptial.  Doctors stated he is expected to survive his injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Carrillo and Senior Police Officer H. Chavez reported:

Residents in the area of the above location heard gunshots and called police.  HPD officers responded and found Mr. Smith suffering from gunshot wounds, but responsive.  Further investigation led officers to locate Mr. Minix in the backyard of a home in the 3400 block of Rosedale.

It was learned that Smith and Minix were close friends.  At this time, it is unknown who shot the men.  Evidence of a shooting was located on the street at the 3400 block of Rosedale.
