Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9901 Richmond

July 11, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting at 9901 Richmond about 7:35 p.m. on Sunday (July 10).

The identity of the male victim, 18, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Williams and Officer M. Khan reported:

A group of five friends was drinking beer, and passing around and playing with a revolver inside an apartment at the above location. One of the individuals, believing the gun was unloaded, pointed it at another person in the group and pulled the trigger. The gun discharged and the male victim was struck one time in the head. The group then fled the apartment, though one of them called the police before doing so. Three of the four group members returned to the scene and gave statements to investigators. However, the shooter did not. He is wanted for questioning at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
