July 18, 2011 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a fatal traffic accident in the 8300 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 4:55 p.m. last Friday (July 15).

David Wayne Houston (b/m, DOB: 9-7-54) is charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide in the 185th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of two female victims, 56 and 84, both of Houston.  The identities of the women are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institutute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Stewart and Officer D. Nguyen reported:

Houston was driving a Yellow Cab northbound on the Eastex Freeway when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a white Volvo Tractor-Trailer that was disabled in the northbound emergency lane.  The rear passenger in the cab was pronounced dead at the scene.  The front seat passenger was pronounced dead while enroute to Memorial Hermann Hospital.  Houston was transported to Ben Taub General Hosptial for treatment of minor injuries.
