Fatal Traffic Accident at 7800 Mykawa


July 20, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian in the 7800 block of Mykawa about 7 a.m. on July 5, 2011.

The male victim, 66, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday (July 19).  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Senior Police Officer S. Boone reported:

On July 5, a blue Mazda S was traveling northbound in the 7800 block of Mykawa when the driver made a left turn at Bel Arbor, crossing the median.  The Mazda then struck a gray Honda Accord, traveling southbound on Mykawa.  The Honda was then pushed onto the sidewalk, striking the male victim, who was on the sidewalk.  The victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing.
