Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4002 Corder


July 25, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 4002 Corder about 12:50 a.m. on Saturday (July 23).

The victim, Donald Griffin, 28, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Countryman and Officer M. Brady reported:

Mr. Griffin was approached by a male suspect in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address and shot one time in the chest.  Griffin collapsed and died.  The shooter then fled the scene.

Further investigation identified a person of interest in this case, Glenn Terrance Sherman (b/m, DOB: 10-3-82), who was seen walking around the apartment complex armed with pistols.

A warrant for felon in possession of a weapon was issued for Sherman and it was served later that day.  After a brief standoff with HPD SWAT officers, Sherman was taken into custody without incident.  At the time of his arrest, Sherman was wearing body armor.

Sherman is charged with felon in possession of a weapon and felon in possession of body armor in the 183rd State District Court.  He is not charged in the fatal shooting of Griffin and no photo of Sherman is available at this time.
