Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5050 Sunflower


March 14, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 5050 Sunflower about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday (March 12).

The male victim suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Padilla and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported:

Officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of The Sunflower Terrace Apartments and found a vehicle that had collided with two other vehicles parked in the lot.  Officers approached the vehicle and found the victim slumped over inside.  Witnesses reported that a truck drove by and began shooting at the victim's vehicle.  Moments later, a car drove by and someone from inside fired shots at the victim's vehicle.  The suspects in both vehicles then fled the scene.
