Investigation into Incident at 6302 Scribner Road

March 29, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the near drowning of a child at 6302 Scribner about 5:45 p.m. on Sunday (March 27).

The male victim, 2, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and later to Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital where he remains in the Pediactric Intensive Care Unit.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Williams and Officer M. Khan reported:

The victim's mother brought him to his grandmother's house at the above address and went to use the restroom.  While his mother was using the restroom, the boy unlocked the back door, which led to the back yard pool.  As soon as his mother got out of the restroom, she looked for her son and soon located him, unresponsive,  in the pool.  The child was pulled out of the pool and CPR was administered by his grandfather.  Houston Fire Department personnel were called and transported the boy to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
