Investigation into Shooting at 9700 Spaulding


May 11, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a shooting that left two people injured at 9700 Spaulding at 9 p.m. Tuesday (May 10).

One victim, James Jones, 23, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.  A second male victim, 14, suffered a gunshot wound to the back.  Both were transported to an area hospital with non life-threatening wounds.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Biggs, Senior Police Officer S. Anderson and Officer C. Hassig reported:

Members of rival groups that had been involved in several fights over the past few weeks met at Tidwell Park to engage in a rematch of a previous fight.  At some point, the suspects pulled guns and began shooting.  Both Jones and the juvenile were struck by the gunfire.
