Investigation into Infant's Death at 7502 Corporate


May 17, 2011 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of an infant at 7502 Corporate #99 about 11:05 p.m. on Monday (May 16).

The newborn male infant was unresponsive and appeared to be stillborn.  He was transported to West Houston Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Evans and Officer K. Meek reported:

Westside patrol officers responded to a meet the firefighter call at 7502 Corporate.  When officers arrived, HFD paramedics told them an adult female at the location, who was reportedly seven months pregnant, had gone into labor and delivered a baby in the bathroom of the apartment.  Accodring to the mother, the baby showed no signs of life and appeared to be severly underdeveloped.  A witness also told police the baby was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.  Both the mother and the baby were then taken to the hospital.

The infant's cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
