The deceased male, 41, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 61, was not injured in this incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Blain and Officer J. Robles reported:

A male called for a cab to take him to a residence at the above location.  When the cab arrived at the residence, the male paid the driver and, at that time, an argument ensued over the amount of change due back to the male.  The male then attempted to assault the cab driver (shooter).  The cab driver, fearing for his life, pulled out a pistol and shot the male.

The cab driver was taken into custody at the scene on unrelated traffic warrants.
