Fatal Traffic Accident at 5100 South Shaver

October 31, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 5100 South Shaver about 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 30).

The male victim, 22, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer I. Jefferson reported:

The victim had been involved in a previous accident where he struck a pole and caused front end damage to his vehicle. He drove the vehicle east on South Shaver until it would not drive anymore. It is believed the victim then exited his vehicle and was struck by another vehicle in the middle of the street. The victim was then taken to the hospital by HFD paramedics.

There were no other vehicles or witnesses at the scene. The investigation is continuing.
