Suspect Arrested, Charged in Aggravated Assault of HPD Officer at 3000 Oklahoma

September 7, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the aggravated assault of a Houston police officer at 3000 Oklahoma about 2:20 a.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 7).

The suspect, Jeremy Wyble (b/m, DOB: 2-3-88), is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant in the 232nd State District Court.  Wyble suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was transported by private vehicle to Kingood Hospital where he was treated for his injury.

Officer J. J. Greenhaw, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident.  Officer Greenhaw was sworn in as an officer in September 2009 and is assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Chandler and Officer J. Johnston reported:

Officer Greenhaw attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle at the above location when four unknown male suspects exited the vehicle.  Three of the suspects fled on foot while a fourth suspect pointed a shotgun directly at Officer Greenhaw.  Fearing for his immediate safety, Officer Greenhaw discharged his duty weapon at the suspect who was holding the shotgun.  The suspect then fled the scene on foot.  At that time, it was not known if the suspect had been struck.

Wyble was later identified at Kingwood Hospital as a suspect in this case and he was charged for his involvement in this incident.  Three other suspects remain at large.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

As is customary in HPD officer-involved shootings occurring in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
