Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 6000 East Orem

April 2, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6000 block of East Orem about 7:10 p.m. last Friday (March 30).


The male victim, 49, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Gonzales and Senior Police Officer J. Ortiz reported:

The victim was driving a brown Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound in the 6000 block of Orem when he lost control of the vehicle, traveled across four lanes of traffic and hit a fire hydrant. After striking the fire hydrant, the vehicle rolled over, ejecting the victim. No other persons nor vehicles were involved in the accident.

The investigation is continuing.
