Update: Suspects Arrested in 2011 Fatal Shooting at 2757 Briargrove

April 25, 2012 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 2757 Briargrove #409 about 11:40 p.m. on March 11, 2011.


The suspects, Christopher Lamont Penn (b/m, DOB: 8-6-71) and Anthony Wayne Smith (b/m, DOB: 7-16-74), are charged with capital murder in the 185th State District Court. They are accused in the killing of Reginald Williams, 22, of the above address. Mr. Williams was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Odom and Senior Police Officers R. Moreno and L. Lovelace reported:

Mr. Williams was visiting with friends in his apartment when two suspects knocked on the door and forced their way inside. One suspect held the occupants of the apartment at gunpoint while the second suspect began to search the apartment. During the robbery, Williams attempted to flee the apartment and was shot. The suspects then fled the scene.

Further investigation led to the identities of the suspects as Christopher Penn and Anthony Smith. Investigators arrested Smith on April 16 and Penn on April 23 without incident.
