Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 10500 Eastex Freeway

December 17, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10500 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 16).


Three male victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A fourth died at Ben Taub General Hospital. A fifth male was transported to the hospital in critical condition. The identities of the victims, all believed to be in their late teens to early 20s, are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer L. Galvan reported:

The driver of a dark blue Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on the Eastex Freeway service road at a high rate of speed when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a curb, causing the vehicle to roll over. The driver and two passengers died at the scene. Two other passengers were transported to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
