UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 2200 Riverside

January 25, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man found at 2200 Riverside about 6:40 a.m. on July 7, 2010.

The suspect, Brandon Larue Jackson (b/m, DOB: 1-6-86), is charged with murder in the 248th State Ditrict Court.  Jackson, who is in the Harris County jail on an unrelated murder charge, is accused in the death of  Casey D. Reed, 43, of Houston.  Mr. Reed suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Parker and Senior Police Officer S. Straughter reported:

Patrol officers responded to a person down call at the above location and found Mr. Reed deceased, lying on the side of street.  He had been shot.  At that time, investigators had no known witnesses nor suspects and all leads in the case had been exhausted.

On Oct. 31, 2011, investigators obtained information through a Crime Stoppers tip that identified Jackson as the suspect in this case.  Investigators met with Jackson at the Harris County jail and he admitted to his involvment in the death of Casey Reed.
