Suspect Arrested in Fatal Traffic Accident at 3200 Southwest Freeway

July 02, 2012 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 3200 block of the Southwest Freeway (South U. S. Highway 59) about 11:50 p.m. on Sunday (July 1). 

The suspect, Ian Carlo May (H/m, DOB: 6-7-83), faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.  May was transported to Ben Taub Hospital and then taken into custody. 

The victim, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer J. Morales reported: 

According to witnesses, May was driving a gray Nissan 350Z southbound in the 3200 block of the Southwest Freeway when he lost control of the vehicle. The Nissan swerved across the freeway, struck a cement retainer wall and then flipped over into the HOV lane.  May's passenger was ejected and killed.  May was taken to the hospital and determined to be intoxicated.
