Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 9400 Coventry Square

July 24, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 9400 Coventry Square about 4 p.m. on Monday (July 23).

The suspect, Edwin Salinas (H/m, DOB: 1-1-89), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Erica Venegas, 36.  A photo of suspect Salinas is not available at this time.

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Burrow and C. Cardenas reported:

Patrol officers responded to the above address after one of Salinas' friends called police and said Salinas called him and stated he had killed Ms. Venegas.  Officers found Venegas deceased inside Salinas' apartment.  She had visited Salinas and, for reasons unknown at this time, Salinas shot her in the head at close range. 

Investigators were told the suspect and victim were in a dating relationship the past five years.

Salinas is described as being 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds.  He has tattoos on both arms and might have a tattoo of "Erica" on his chest.
