Fatal Traffic Accident at 5200 West 34th

March 15, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5200 West 34th about 7:50 a.m. today (March 16).

The male victim, 60, of Houston,  was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending notification of family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Officer L. Segura reported:

The victim was operating a black Honda motorcycle westbound in the 5200 block of West 34th when the driver of a black Jeep Grand Cherokee turned north into a parking lot.  The motorcyclist struck the passenger side of the Jeep and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation determined the driver of the Jeep was unable to see the motorcycle because of another vehicle.  Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident and there are no charges at this time.
