Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 103 Goodson

March 21, 2012 - The fatal shooting of an auto theft suspect by a security guard at 103 Goodson about 3:30 a.m. today (March 21) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The suspect, John Henry Almanza (H/m, DOB: 11-4-86), was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male security guard, 34, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants D. Hayes, J. Rhoades and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:

A security guard at the Magnolia Cove apartment complex observed two suspects attempting to steal a pickup truck.  When the security guard tried to stop the suspects, the pair exited the truck and suspect Almanza attempted to disarm the guard.  During the struggle, Almanza was shot one time.  The second suspect fled the scene on foot.
