Investigation into Deceased Infant at 7115 Beechnut

May 2, 2012 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results of a baby found dead at 7115 Beechnut about 8 a.m. on Wednesday (May 2).

The infant, Joseph Elijah Mouton, 6 months, was found dead at the scene.  His cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant O. Chandler and Officers K. McDonald and R. Hardy reported:

A male suspect (infant's father) contacted emergency personnel and stated he was having suicidal thoughts.  When emergency personnel responded, they found the suspect unresponsive on the floor of his residence.  Neighbors then expressed concern for the suspect's infant son.  Officers searched the apartment and found the infant, deceased in the refrigerator. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains.

The investigation is continuing.
