According to witnesses, Green was driving a white Nissan Sentra that was having mechanical problems, and was either stalled out or moving very slowly in the northbound lanes of the South Loop East without its lights on.  Reyes was driving a silver Chevrolet Lumina northbound on the South Loop and struck the rear of the Sentra.  The Lumina then struck a Chevrolet Tahoe in the next lane.

Green and his son (victim) were both transported to Memorial  Hermann Hospital.  Green's injuries were minor, but his son's were fatal.  Reyes was taken into custody and then transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.    The driver of the Tahoe was not injured.
