Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 6700 Ranchester

May 29, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 6700 Ranchester about 3:20 p.m. on Sunday (May 27).

The female victim, 76, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.  Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer M. Matthews reported:

HPD officers responded to a person down call at 9400 Clarewood.  When officers arrived, they found the victim deceased in the 6700 block of Ranchester.  Further invesstigation determined a green Toyotal Camry was traveling on Ranchester when it struck the victim, who was attempting to cross the street.  The driver of the Toyota, described only as a black male in his thirties, fled the scene without stopping.
