Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4300 Fallen Oaks

May 31, 2012 -Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4300 Fallen Oaks about 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday (May 29).

The suspect, Jairo Umanzor (H/m, DOB: 3-31-85), is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Reginald Sheppard, 23, of the above address.  A photo of suspect Umanzor is attached to this news release. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rodriguez and Senior Officer M. Condon reported: 

Mr. Sheppard was shot by his neighbor and died at the scene. 

Further investigation and witness statements identified Umanzor as the suspect in this case and he was taken into custody at the scene.  Umanzor admitted to his involvement in Sheppard's death. 

At this time, no motive has been determined for the shooting.
