Houston Police Department
Investigation into Incident at 7313 Northline Drive

November 19, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in an incident in which a Houston police officer discharged his duty weapon at 7313 Northline Drive about 9:40 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 16).

The suspect, Thuimieas Lee (b/m, DOB: 5-7-91), is charged with felony evading arrest in the 179th State District Court.  A photo of Lee is not available at this time, pending further investigation.

Officer C. Alonzo, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured.  Officer Alonzo was sworn in as an officer in April 2002 and is assigned to the North Patrol Division.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers M. Miller and T. Miller reported:

Officer Alonzo was on routine patrol and monitoring his police radio when he overheard nearby patrol units broadcast suspect and vehicle information related to an armed robbery from earlier that evening.  As Officer Alonzo pulled into the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address, he saw a male (Lee) matching the description of one of the robbery suspects.

Officer Alonzo exited his patrol vehicle and gave Lee repeated verbal commands to stop and show his hands, which he ignored.  Lee then turned away from Officer Alonzo and appeared to place his hands down the front of his pants.  Lee then turned quickly toward Officer Alonzo.  Believing Lee had a weapon and fearing for his life, Officer Alonzo discharged his duty weapon in the direction of Lee but did not strike him.  Lee immediately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
