Police Chief Urges All to Exercise Shopping Safety this Black Friday

November 20, 2012 - Houston Police Chief Charles A. McClelland, Jr. wants all shoppers to have the safest and happiest holiday season and urges all to exercise patience as the crowds grow, especially for Black Friday shopping sales.

The Chief notes that, in some instances, large retail outlets are opening doors on Thanksgiving night this year.  Others, he says, plan to release new athletic footwear that usually results in hundreds of citizens gathering and sleeping outside the businesses.

Chief McClelland says owners of retail stores should have responsible security plans in place ahead of time.  His comments, available for use by media outlets, are on the HPD YouTube Channel at https://youtu.be/a021uo52HWY
