UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9677 Plainfield

November 20, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 9677 Plainfield about 4 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 18). 

The suspect, Azell Keith Thrasher, Jr. (b/m, DOB: 2-17-87), is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Lucion Barrett, 26, of Needville, Texas, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants N. Ruland and R. Odom, Senior Police Officer L. Lovelace and Officer M. Coleman reported: 

Mr. Barrett got into an argument with an unknown suspect inside of a sports bar at the above address.  Both men were then escorted out of the bar by security guards.  The argument continued in the parking lot where it escalated.  The suspect then pulled out a gun and fired several shots, striking Barrett and a second male.  Barrett was transported to the hospital where he died.  The second male was transported to the hospital by private vehicle and is expected to recover from his injuries. 

Further investigation identified Thrasher as the suspect in this case and today (Nov. 20) he was taken into custody without incident.
