Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 7440 Long Point

November 26, 2012 -Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 7440 Long Point about 2:30 am. last Thursday (Nov. 22).

The victim, 28, suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Chandler and Senior Police Officer R. Swainson reported:

The victim drove his vehicle into the parking lot of a closed convenience store at the above address.  After initiating a brief conversation with a woman standing in the parking lot, she got into his vehicle to continue the conversation.  At that time, two males, armed with pistols, approached and tried to open the vehicle door in an apparent robbery attempt.  The victim tried to drive away, however he was shot before doing so.

The suspects, described only as three to four young Hispanic males then fled in a waiting dark-colored crew cab pickup truck.  A second vehicle, described only as a small four-door, was initially seen by witnesses at the scene, however it has yet to be located.
