Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 1107 Neyland

November 28, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman and wounding of two men at 1107 Neyland about 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 28).

The suspect, Desi Thomas (b/m, DOB: 12-28-79), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Frankie Cooper, 57, of the above address.  A second shooting victim, a 20-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.  Another male, 21, suffered an unknown injury and was treated and released from the hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Odom and Officer M. Coleman reported:

Thomas was involved in an earlier altercation with Ms. Cooper in which she told Thomas not to return to the residence because he was causing trouble.  Thomas returned a short time later while Cooper and three other persons were sleeping inside the residence.  Thomas shot three of the individuals inside the residence.  Cooper died at the scene.  The two other victims were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
