UPDATE: Second Victim Deceased in Fatal Shooting at 1107 Neyland

November 28, 2012 - A second person wounded in a shooting at 1107 Neyland about 5:20 a.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 28) has died.

The victim is identified as Dan Thomas, 20, of Houston.  He was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital overnight.  The other deceased victim, Frankie Cooper, 57, died at the scene.

The suspect, Desi Thomas (b/m, DOB: 12-28-79), is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing Ms. Cooper and Dan Thomas (no relation).  A third victim, a 21-year-old man, suffered an unknown injury and was treated and released from the hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Odom and Officer M. Coleman reported:

Suspect Thomas was involved in an earlier altercation with Ms. Cooper in which she told Thomas not to return to the residence because he was causing trouble.  Thomas returned a short time later while Cooper and three other persons were sleeping inside the residence.  Thomas shot three of the individuals inside the residence and fled the scene.  Cooper died at the scene.  Dan Thomas and the other victim were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Suspect Thomas was taken into custody without incident later Wednesday evening.
