Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 5700 Selinsky

October 4, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 5700 block of Selinsky about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 30.


The suspect, Ronnie William Cook (b/m, DOB: 7-28-77), is charged with accident involving injury or death in the 177th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Renada Johnson, 32, of Houston, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer T. Van reported:

A white Dodge Magnum was traveling westbound in the 5700 block of Selinsky when the driver struck Ms. Johnson, as she attempted to cross the street. The vehicle remained at the scene.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Cook as the driver of the vehicle that struck Johnson and, on Tuesday (Oct. 2), he was arrested without incident.
