September 24, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 12800 Nimitz about 4 a.m. today (Sept. 24). 

The victim, Donald Michael Lapointe, 28, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Rohling and Officer J. Harvey reported:

A witness was driving with family members in the 12800 block of Nimitz when he saw a car in a ditch on the side of the road.  The witness stopped and searched the vehicle and found Mr. Lapointe in the trunk.  He had been shot and appeared to have been beaten.  A plastic bag filled with pills was also found in his pants.

At this time, there are no known suspects.
