UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Woman's Death at 237 West 18th Street

September 26, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the beating death of a woman found at 237 West 18th Street #4 about 11:05 p.m. on July 29. 

The suspect, Edgar Gonzalez Zavala (b/m, DOB: 4-2-67), is charged with murder in the 185th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of April Boggs, 42, of the above address.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Jewell, Senior Police Officers M. Miller, J. Villarreal and Officer J. Horn reported:

HPD patrol officers and HFD paramedics responded to a welfare check call at the above location after neighbors reported a foul odor coming from the residence.  They found Ms. Boggs deceased on the kitchen floor inside her apartment.

Investigators have determined Boggs was beaten to death with a baseball bat in her home on July 16.  It also appeared she was sexually assaulted.  Jewelry was taken from her residence and her vehicle was stolen.

Ms. Boggs' vehicle was recovered in Weimer, Texas, and Edgar Zavala was identified as the suspect in this case.
