Female Arrested, Another Sought in Burglary at 762 East 17th Street

August 13, 2013 - Houston police have arrested and charged one female suspect and are seeking a second female for questioning in the burglary of a residence at 762 E. 17th Street about 1:20 p.m. on July 5.

One suspect, Rebecca Lynn Bench (w/f, DOB: 11-2-72), is in custody and charged with burglary of a habitation in the 209th State District Court. A photo of suspect Bench is attached to this news release.

A second suspect, Laura Kristen Campas (w/f, DOB: 4-4-72), is wanted for questioning in the incident and is currently at-large.

HPD Burglary and Theft Division Officer N. Barnes reported:

Bench and a second woman, believed to be Campas, entered the above residence posing as a realtor and prospective buyer of the home. The homeowners left the suspects at the location and returned to find items missing from their home. The suspects are believed to be responsible for at least one other related case that happened at 2300 Welch on July 19. The same scenario occured as the previous inciident, however there were no witnesses at the Welch residence.

Bench was arrested on August 6 at her Baytown residence without incident. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Laura Kristen Campas is urged to contact the HPD Burglary and Theft Division at 713-308-0900 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
