Fatal Traffic Accident at 10200 Eastex Freeway

August 13, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 10200 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) service road about 12:10 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 12).

The male victim, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer L. Ho reported:

A red Ford F-250 pickup truck, pulling a trailer with a large compressor and backhoe on board, was traveling south on the Eastex Freeway service road when the left front tire blew out and caused the vehicle to lose control. The Ford struck a concrete pillar east of the service road. The trailer then struck the cab of the truck. The front seat passenger died at the scene. The driver and rear passenger of the Ford were transported to Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital and Hermann Hospital, respectively, in unknown conditions.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
