Suspect Charged in Incident at 13662 Westheimer #B

August 26, 2013 - Charges have been filed against an armed suspect who fired upon a Houston police officer at 13662 Westheimer #B about 11:10 p.m. last Thursday (Aug. 22).

The suspect, Eric Jordan Tucker (b/m, DOB: 12-24-80), is charged with two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant in the 179th State District Court. No photo of Tucker is available at this time.

Neither Sergeant B. Foltz nor Officer J. Ngar, who discharged their duty weapons, was injured in this incident. Sergeant Foltz was sworn in as an officer in February 1994 and Officer J. Ngar was sworn in as an officer in April, 2008. Both are assigned to the Westside Patrol Division.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Triplett reported:

Tucker was reported as committing an aggravated robbery at the above location when officers arrived and took him into custody. While handcuffed, Tucker produced a small handgun from his waistband and fired at Sergeant Foltz. Sergeant Foltz returned fire and suspect Tucker then fled the business. While in the parking lot, Tucker pointed his weapon at Officer Ngar who, fearing for his safety, also discharged his duty weapon at Tucker. Tucker then fled the scene and was located a few blocks away with gunshot wounds to his arm and legs. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

As is customary in officer-involved shootings in the city limits, this case will be investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
