Fatal Traffic Accident at 3700 South Loop West

December 16, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3700 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 2:40 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 15).

The female victim, 21, was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Officer K. Hines reported:

The victim was driving a silver Kia at an apparent high rate of speed eastbound on the South Loop. She failed to maintain a single lane and struck a guard wall, causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver and two passengers, a female and a male, were ejected from the vehicle. Both females were transported to an area hospital where the driver was pronounced dead. The female passenger suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The male passenger was uninjured.

No other motorists or vehicles were involved in this accident.
