Update: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2012 Fatal Shooting at 1501 Evergreen

February 27, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 1501 Evergreen Drive about 11:30 p.m. on July 21, 2012.

The suspect, Jaycee Devonne Scallion (b/m, DOB: 9-21-85), is charged with capital murder in the 180th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Pedro Emilio DePena, 40, of Houston, who died at the scene. A photo of suspect Scallion is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported:
Two unknown male suspects entered the Evergreen Game room at the above address. One of the suspects pulled the security guard out into the parking lot, pushed him to the ground, and fatally shot him. The same suspect then entered the game room and looked around while displaying a black, semi-automatic pistol. Both suspects then fled the scene.

Further investigation developed information that identified Scallion as the shooter in this case. He was taken into custody on Tuesday (Feb. 26) without incident. Three other suspects believed involved in the robbery remain at large.
