Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 2200 South State Highway 6

January 3, 2012 - Charges have been filed a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 2200 South State Highway 6 about 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 2).

Mytreka Neshell Ealem (b/f, DOB: 9-3-81) is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 263rd State District Court.  A photo of Ealem is attached to this news release.

The male victim, 42, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer C. Tosso reported:

The suspect, Ealem, was driving a maroon Ford Expedition southbound on Highway 6 when she crossed the center divider and struck a black Ford Escape traveling northbound.  The Expedition then struck a white Hyundai Santa Fe, whose driver then lost control of the vehicle and was struck by two additional northbound vehicles.  Two backseat passengers in the Hyundai were ejected from the vehicle.  Both were taken to an area hospital where one died and the other remained in serious condition.  

Further investigation determined Ealem was under the influence of illegal narcotics and was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
