Fatal Traffic Accident at 14300 Main Street

January 7, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 14300 block of Main Street about 8:45 a.m. today (Jan. 7). 

The female victim, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Senior Police Officer R. Tallent reported: 

The female driver of a silver Toyota Camry was driving southbound on Main Street when the vehicle crossed the center grassy median and struck a white Lincoln LS, traveling northbound on Main.  The Lincoln was then struck by a a white Toyota Avalon, also traveling northbound on Main.  The driver of the Lincoln died at the scene.  The driver of the Camry, 37, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with minor injuries.  The driver of the Avalon was not injured and remained at the scene. 

Further investigation determined the driver of the Camry fell asleep at the wheel just prior to the accident. 

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.
