Fatal Traffic Accident at 7000 Bennington

July 5, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 7000 block of Bennington about 4 a.m. on Thursday (July 4).

The male victim, 52, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer P. Pham reported:

A passerby called 9-1-1 after seeing a motorcycle and a male lying on the ground.  Further investigation and evidence at the scene determined the victim was operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Bennington at a high rate of speed and failed to stay in a single lane.  The motorcycle then struck a curb, went onto a grassy area, struck an iron fence and came to a stop about 40 feet from the initial impact.  HFD paramedics were called to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital.

No other vehicles were involved in this accident.
