Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6500 Sands Point

July 26, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man and wounding of another male and female at 6500 Sands Point about 2:25 a.m. today (July 25).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  Both the wounded male and female were transported to area hospitals in unknown conditions.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Elliot and Officer K. McDonald reported:

The victims arrived at the above residence of the deceased male and found the burglar bar gate and front door had been forced open.  As they entered the residence, they were confronted by at least one male suspect who immediately began to shoot the victims. One male collapsed inside the residence while the female was shot near the front door.  The suspect chased the condo owner out of the residence and fired several shots.  The male then collapsed in the parking lot and died at the scene.  The wounded female fled the scene by private vehicle and was later located at an area hospital.  The wounded male was transported by HFD paramedics to an area hospital.

Investigators believe the victims interrupted a burglary of the residence.  A large amount of narcotics were also recovered at the scene.

The suspect is described only as a black male in dark clothing.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
