UPDATE: Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5307 Telephone Road

March 01, 2012 - Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5307 Telephone about 4:40 p.m. on February 19.

The suspects, Brandon Toderick Johnson (b/m, 8-9-89), Johntay Gibson (b/m, 9-20-94) and Eric Eugene Washington (b/m, 6-17-92), are charged with capital murder in the 230th State District Court.  They are accused in the killing of Hamid Warrich, 62, who was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Photos of the suspects are not available at this time pending futher investigation.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Torres, C. Elliott, J. Burton,  and Officers D. Fontenot, I. Duplechain, M. Stahlin and K. McDonald reported:

Two unknown male suspects entered the Boost Mobile cell phone store at the above address and demanded money.  During the robbery, Mr. Warrich, the store's owner, was shot.  The suspects were described only as two unknown males wearing masks over their faces.

Further investigation determined that shortly after the shooting the suspects used property stolen in this incident.  In fact, the suspects went to a drive-through of a fast food restaurant after leaving the scene of the crime.  This information was matched to a lead furnished by the HPD Robbery Division.  The vehicle used in this incident was located and the suspects were taken into custody on February 21.  Statements were obtained and Johnson and Gibson were charged.

Further investigation led to the identification of Washington as the third suspect and on Thursday (Feb. 28) he was arrested without incident.

At this time, additional cases are being examined to learn if the suspects are involved in other incidents.

A multitude of officers assisted in the investigation.  Homicide investigators extend thanks to all those agencies and officers who volunteered information upon hearing about this murder case, and the officers who assisted with the arrest and surveillance on the suspects.

Anyone with additional information on the suspects is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
