Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 4600 Allum Road

October 18, 2013 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 4600 Allum Road about 10:55 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 17).

The suspect Marcos Frias Velasquez (H/m, DOB: 4-25-42), is charged with driving while intoxicated/2nd offense in Harris County Criminal Court #4 pending further investigation. A photo of Velasquez is attached to this news release.

The male victim, 48, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer P. Pham reported:

The victim was walking westbound on the side of the road in the 4600 block of Allum when he was struck by a gold Pontiac Montana traveling westbound on Allum. The victim died at the scene. A witness identified Velasquez as the driver of the Pontiac and he was taken into custody at the scene. Further investigation determined Velasquez was intoxicated and he was subsequently charged.

The investigation is continuing.
