Surveillance Video of Suspect Wanted in Debit Card Abuse Investigation

April 9, 2014 - Houston police have released surveillance video of a suspect wanted for using funds from a victim's bank account to make purchases at a business at 8535 South Braeswood about noon on March 2.

The suspect is described only as a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and 150 to 190 pounds. He had a mustache and beard, and long dreadlocks. Surveillance video of the suspect is posted on the HPD YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrnG0yCdEZI.

The female victim, 38, from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, noticed unauthorized transactions being made with her debit card at a Walgreens at 8535 South Braeswood. She observed the transactions after they were conducted and quickly filed a report with HPD.

Acting on that information, an officer in the Investigative First Responder Division went to the business and retrieved video evidence of the suspect during the transactions. The suspect is seen at an ATM, swiping what appears to be a card with the woman's account information on it. The suspect then used information from the victim's debit card to make more than $300 worth of purchases of gift cards at the cash register.

Anyone with information on the identity of the wanted suspect is urged to contact the Investigative First Responder Division at 713-247-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
