Investigation into Fatal Accident at 1100 Edgebook

April 14, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 1100 block of Edgebrook about 1:20 p.m. on Saturday (April 12).

The identity of one male victim, 19, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The identity of a second deceased male, 82, is also pending notification to family members.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Lopez and Officer O. Sulaiman reported:

The suspect, 82 years old, was driving a blue Dodge Caravan van northbound on the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) when he had a possible medical episode that caused him to lose control of his vehicle and cross into the eastbound lanes of traffic. The Dodge struck a silver Saturn S12 and then a blue Ford F150 pickup truck, both stopped at a red light at the intersection of Edgebrook. The impact then caused the Ford to strike a blue Toyota Sienna and a blue Dodge 1500 pickup truck. The driver of the Dodge Caravan and the Ford F150 the both died at the scene. Occupants of the other vehicles were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
