Investigation into Male's Death at 4200 Sam Houston Parkway

August 6, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the death of a male at 4200 South Sam Houston Parkway about 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 5).

The male, Danny Simmons, 28, of Dickinson, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers K. Daignault and N. Rosenblatt reported:

League City police officers saw a suspicious vehicle circling a commercial parking lot known for a high rate of crime. League City officers then determined the driver (Simmons) was wanted for a robbery warrant out of Galveston County. The officers then attempted to make a traffic stop and Simmons fled in his vehicle. League City police officers then initiated a vehicle pursuit that reached into the Houston city limits.

The suspect's vehicle came to a stop in the 4200 block of the Sam Houston Parkway. League City officers attempted to make contact with the suspect inside the vehicle, but were unsuccessful. League City PD then approached the vehicle and determined the suspect was deceased.
